It is important that you know what signs may indicate a problem with your dental implant, before they become serious. Here, we’ve listed the four main signs that could indicate that there is a problem with your implant.
Movement
Movement of your dental implant is usually the first sign that something is not quite right. At first, this movement will be very slight and you may not be able to notice it. This is why it is important to visit your dentist regularly, as they will likely notice the movement before you do.
Swelling
Swelling around your dental implant should be checked by your dentist.
Pain
If you feel any pain around your dental implant (once the initial pain from the implantation surgery has subsided), a return trip to your dentist is advised.
Bleeding
If brushing causes bleeding from the site of the implant, this may be a sign of infection.
If you notice any of these signs or you have any other concerns about the health of your dental implant, you should visit your dentist as soon as possible. This is because, the earlier that you identify a problem and the earlier that that problem can be treated, the smaller the chance that it will develop into something more serious.
