Orthodontics In Manchester

At The Mall, we have two ways of straightening your teeth and helping you achieve a beautiful, straight smile. We use either clear aligners from Invisalign, or tooth coloured brackets and wires from Quick Straight Teeth.

Both systems use state-of-the-art digital treatment planning tools, meaning you can see your new smile before you actually start treatment. After your initial consultation, your visits will be short and around 4 weeks apart.

Invisalign Clear Aligner System

Have you ever wondered how to straighten teeth without using any metal braces?

Invisalign is a clear aligner system that has been developed to be a quick and discreet alternative for patients not wanting traditional braces.

Invisalign  is the world’s most widely used orthodontic system. Every innovative feature of the Invisalign System is designed to reveal your perfect smile. Millions of people have now transformed their lives with these removable, near-invisible aligners.

Invisalign is custom-made to move your teeth little by little, each tiny shift taking you a step closer to that next version of you – efficiently, gently and accurately.

Quick Straight Teeth™

QuickStraightTeeth™ uses nearly-invisible braces to gently straighten your teeth, and give you that smile you’ve always dreamed of.

We all want a perfect smile, but all too often, the word ‘braces’ can conjure up images of old-fashioned ‘train-tracks’ or Ugly Betty!

You will be pleasantly surprised with QuickStraightTeeth™. Our braces look beautiful and discreet, with top quality tooth-coloured brackets and wires, making them virtually invisible. Most people won’t know you are wearing braces at all and treatments can take as little as 6 months to complete.

With an option to suit everyone, QuickStraightTeeth™ can boost your confidence, raise your self-esteem and give you a winning smile.

QuickStraightTeeth™ is one of the most widely used orthodontic systems in the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Adult orthodontics is the branch of orthodontics that concentrates on straightening the front 6 to 8 teeth, the so called ‘social 6’, to produce a beautiful smile. This is often called cosmetic orthodontics. It does not necessarily entail straightening the back teeth or correcting the bite.

The main aspect that we concentrate on in adult orthodontics, is improving the smile. The back teeth are largely left unmoved.  We treat adults realistically, and work within the confines of where the teeth are already positioned. With children, we treat them idealistically, and will always attempt to align both front and back teeth to create a perfect bite.

Adult orthodontics and Invisalign can cost between £2000 and £4500, depending on the choice of appliances and the complexity of your problem.

With adult orthodontics the ultimate aim is to be sure the teeth aligned so that no further work needs to be done on them. This is possible in most cases. However, if you have worn teeth, or teeth that are uneven, or out of alignment to a large degree, then we may need to straighten the teeth to the best position possible and use restorative options to achieve the final result.

There is a choice of two different options for moving your teeth:

The first option is to use fixed braces. These involve using tooth-coloured brackets placed on the front 6 to 8 teeth, connected using a tooth-coloured wire.  Fixed braces work rapidly and are usually able to resolve more complex crowding and spacing issues than clear aligners.

The second option is to use clear aligners such as Invisalign. These are a series of very thin, clear plastic ‘gumshields’, which gently reposition the teeth. We sometimes place small tooth coloured buttons on the teeth to help direct the forces correctly.

With both methods, gentle, consistent forces can safely move teeth and reveal your beautiful new smile.

Firstly, your dentist will do a full consultation and thorough examination to ensure you are suitable for adult orthodontics. Photographs and impressions will be taken. These are then sent to the laboratory who will construct a digital image of what your teeth will look like after your adult orthodontics is completed.

Using this data we can then go over the perfect treatment for you, and you can discuss with your dentist whether you would prefer fixed braces or clear aligners. Your appliances will then be custom made for you and fitted by your dentist.

Retention is the process by which we keep your teeth in their new position after your treatment is completed.  Although the teeth are now straight, there is a tendency for the teeth to drift back to their original, pre treatment position, without the use of retention.

We like to use two types of retention. One is a very fine metal wire bonded to the back of the teeth to keep them in position – this is called a fixed retainer. We also prescribe that you wear a clear, removable retainer at night to help keep your beautiful, straight smile.

In some cases, there are other treatments that will give you a straighter smile.  However, they are usually more destructive than orthodontic treatment. You may be able to have cosmetic bonding done to improve the shape and position of the teeth. This is minimally invasive and does not usually entail much changing of your natural tooth structure.

We can also use veneers and crowns to improve your smile, but this does usually entail drilling quite a bit of the tooth away and is not a reversible treatment. Although this will get you the end result much faster, we feel it is always best to preserve the natural tooth structure wherever possible and enhance your own teeth. This will provide a healthier and longer lasting result.
